Vehicle types

Vehicle types describe the usage classification that a Vehicle is being operated under e.g. a Truck is described as a Heavy Motor vehicle.

The type of Vehicle is used to in the Work-time calculations that influences the maximum duration of consecutive work-time a driver can work before they must take a 30-minute rest break.

The list of available types is based on those listed in the Work-time & Logbook rules under the Land Transport Act 2007 (& amendments)

The complete list of Vehicle types & max consecutive work duration values is as follows:

7 hrs

  • Taxi

  • Small Passenger Service (effective 1 Sept 2018)

5.5 hrs

  • Large Passenger Service

  • Heavy Motor

  • Bus

  • Mobile Crane

  • School Bus

  • Vehicle Recovery Service

  • Vintage Heavy

  • Goods Service

  • Combination

  • Emergency Service
