Logbook Inspection & Roadside Export

How to share your logbook with an enforcement officer during a roadside check

Updated today

As a commercial driver in New Zealand, you may be asked by an enforcement officer to provide a copy of your logbook. Logmate makes this quick and easy from within the app.

For Drivers

When asked to produce your logbook:

  1. Open the Logmate app

  2. Tap the Menu icon (top left)

  3. Tap Enforcement

  4. Your recent logbook records will be displayed

  5. Select the shifts the officer wants to see

  6. Tap Next (top right)

  7. Hand your phone to the officer to complete the export

The officer will enter their details (CVIU number and email) and receive a copy of the selected records.

Note: Enforcement officers cannot see your digital logbook unless they request copies for inspection β€” either from you directly or from your approved Transport Operator(s).

For Enforcement Officers

To obtain a copy of a driver's Logmate digital logbook:

  1. Ask the driver to open the Logmate app and navigate to Menu β†’ Enforcement

  2. The driver's recent shift records will be displayed

  3. Select the shifts you need copies of

  4. Tap Next

  5. Enter your CVIU / NZ Police ID number and email address

  6. Tap Submit

With Good Mobile Coverage

You'll receive the logbook records immediately via email as a downloadable PDF.

Without Mobile Coverage

If there's no connectivity:

  1. Note down the Export Token and the driver's Licence Number displayed on screen

  2. When you have connectivity, go to the Enforcement Admin

  3. Enter your CVIU number, the driver's licence number, your email, and the Export Token

  4. Click Retrieve Export to download the PDF

Note: Export Tokens are unique codes comprising date/time of export, driver ID, and your CVIU.
