Start a new Work Shift by choosing Drive or Other Duty.
Before you start
You need these before you can start a shift:
At least one TSL Holder (pending or approved)
At least one vehicle saved
A valid Software Licence (active trial or paid)
An internet connection (the Mobile App only supports viewing past shifts when offline)
Start a new shift
Open the Logmate Mobile App.
On the home screen, tap NEW SHIFT.
The Mobile App asks "What sort of Work?"
Tap DRIVE to start driving, or tap OTHER DUTY to start non-driving work.
The entry form opens. Fill in the required fields.
Tap SAVE.
What happens when you start
Each entry records:
The date and time it started β this is set to now by default, but you can edit it to a time in the past
A location description based on your device's GPS β you can edit this if needed
The entry type you chose (Drive or Other Duty)
If you chose Drive, the Mobile App also records the vehicle and odometer reading.
Rest gap information
When you start a new shift, the Mobile App shows how long you rested since your last shift ended.
Rest gap | What the Mobile App shows |
10 hours or more (same Work Period) | Green indicator: "Valid Rest" with remaining period balance |
24 hours or more | Blue indicator: "New Period" (your 70-hour balance resets) |
Less than 10 hours | Red warning: "Insufficient Rest" with the earliest legal start time |
Starting with insufficient rest
Logmate does not prevent you from starting a shift early. The Mobile App shows a warning, but the decision is yours. Starting with insufficient rest records a violation on your shift.
The NEW SHIFT button colour
Colour | Meaning |
Green | Your rest time is complete. Safe to start. |
Orange | Your rest time is not yet complete. A countdown shows when you can start without a violation. |
Shift comment
When you start a new shift, you can add an optional comment. Use this to note what you did during your time off (for example, "Day off" or "Sick leave").
