Logmate is a digital logbook for New Zealand commercial drivers.
Who is Logmate for?
Logmate serves three groups:
Drivers — Record work-time using the Logmate Mobile App on your phone
Transport Operators — View driver work-time records through Logmate Admins
Enforcement Officers — Request and review driver logbook records at roadside
How does it work?
Logmate has two parts:
Logmate Mobile App — The iOS and Android app where drivers record their shifts. You log when you drive, take breaks, do other duties, and end your shift. See Your First Shift for an overview of the Mobile App.
Logmate Admins — The web portal at admins.logmate.co.nz where operators and drivers manage their accounts. Operators can view driver shifts, manage Software Licences, and invite drivers.
Why do I need it?
New Zealand law requires commercial drivers to keep work-time records. Logmate helps you meet these rules by tracking:
Continuous driving time (5.5 hours maximum for most drivers)
Total work-time per shift (13 hours maximum)
Work-time across your Work Period (70 hours maximum in any 7 days)
Rest breaks (30 minutes minimum for a valid break)
Logmate warns you when you are close to a limit. The decision to stop or continue is always yours. See What Are the NZ Work-Time Rules? for the full rules and Does Logmate Stop Me From Working? for how warnings work.
When you lock a shift, copies are supplied to your approved TSL Holders. This meets the legal requirement to share work-time records with your operator.
